Vacancy: Transitions and Early Intervention Officer
Title: Transitions and Early Intervention Officer
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Up to Β£26,636 per annum
Organisation: Chelmsford College
Closing date: 28/07/2026
Responsibilities
The Transitions and Early Intervention Officer role has been developed in response to the increasing complexity of learner needs and the importance of providing timely, coordinated support to vulnerable and disadvantaged learners throughout their college journey.
The role will strengthen the College's ability to identify learners requiring additional support at the earliest opportunity and ensure that safeguarding, child protection, and vulnerability information is effectively transferred, reviewed, and acted upon during transition from school to college.
By maintaining oversight of key learner cohorts, including learners known to children's social care (EVER 6), and those eligible for free school meals, the postholder will support early intervention, improve engagement, reduce withdrawals, and increase achievement and progression outcomes.
The role will coordinate cross-college Early Intervention Reviews, facilitate multi-agency working, and ensure that curriculum teams, personal tutors, and support services implement timely and effective interventions for learners at risk of disengagement or non-achievement.
This proactive, data-informed approach aligns with the College's strategic priorities for safeguarding, wellbeing, learner success, and retention, while supporting compliance with statutory safeguarding responsibilities and strengthening collaborative working across the organisation.
The College is committed to equality and diversity and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share these commitments.
Applicants must have an enhanced DBS check.
Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
