Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Science department with a strong track record of student achievement and excellent outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Organise and maintain the College’s Science laboratories, microbiology stocks, and associated equipment.
- Support the maintenance and management of specialist equipment and resources used within the Health and Childcare curriculum areas.
- Prepare materials, chemicals, equipment, and resources for practical teaching sessions across Applied Science programmes.
- Ensure that Health and Childcare equipment is maintained, serviced, and readily available to support high-quality teaching and learning.
- Provide technical support to both staff and students, including guidance on the safe use and operation of equipment where required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements through the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of risk assessments within practical learning environments.
- Maintain safe working practices, manage stocks and consumables, and ensure equipment is fit for purpose.
- Provide essential support to teaching staff and managers across the Science, Health, and Childcare provision.
- Manage departmental ordering, expenditure, and monitor the budget across Science, Health, and Childcare using the College finance system.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of CLEAPSS, COSHH regulations, microbiological stock management, and laboratory health and safety procedures would be advantageous.
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
- Knowledge and experience in materials preparation, experiment setup, and equipment maintenance.
