We have an exciting opportunity available at Chelmsford College for an IQA to join our Building Services – Electrical team. You will join us on a variable hour's contract up to 12 hours per week (0.4 FTE).
The IQA role: An Internal Quality Assurer will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the quality of assessment processes and practice to ensure awarding body standards are maintained within the Electrical Department at Chelmsford College. As part of the Electrical Installations team, the IQA postholder will review quality of assessor performance, identify development needs and work with the Head of Department in the development of improving the quality of assessment. This role will support the qualification core delivery, working in conjunction with the teaching staff, the course team leader and reporting to the Head of Department. This is a supportive role to assist lecturers.
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake, devise and record individual assessment action plans with staff and determine whether assessment processes and systems meet and operate according to quality requirements.
- Track student progress and check that assessments are planned, prepared for and carried out as per our quality assurance calendar.
- Provide written and oral feedback to the assessor and update assessment records in accordance with internal and external quality standards as set by the Awarding Body and the college.
- Provide advice and support to help assessors maintain and improve their assessment practice and to check that assessment decisions are made using specified criteria.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Academic qualifications relevant to the field of study, equivalent at a minimum of Level 3.
- Assessor Award Qualification D32/33, A1, TAQA or equivalent.
- Academic and/or professional experience relevant to the field of study.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and team development skills and have the ability to contribute to the team and its goals.
- Be able to work independently and as a member of the team.
- Possess good IT and administrative skills and be able to keep accurate tracking records for tools and equipment.
