What does a Learning Designer – German do at Busuu?
You’ll work on shaping an impactful language learning experience for over 120+ million learners in over 190 countries. You will be responsible for designing, maintaining and improving our German content, ensuring that learners can progress and apply their language skills in a real-world and professional context. In this role, you will combine pedagogical expertise, learner data, and competitive insights to create effective, engaging, and accessible content. You will also contribute to the evolution of Busuu’s AI driven features, ensuring that AI enhances the learning journey while crafting a cohesive meaningful experience for the learners.
On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities are likely to include:

Create, maintain and update our German syllabi and lessons, applying best pedagogical and instructional design principles for digital language learning

Working with Busuu’s content management system to build and publish new content and maintain existing courses

Checking and critiquing other team members’ lesson plans as part of our internal quality assurance process

Analyse learner data and conduct research to identify content gaps and opportunities, challenges and usage patterns while keeping up to date with competitors and trends

Contribute to the evolution of the product, ensuring our methodology adapts to new technology and features as they emerge

Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to contribute to the evolution of our courses and AI features and make sure they are aligned with our learners’ needs
Essential skills and experience

Masters-level qualification in languages, linguistics or education

Proven experience teaching German as a foreign language

Experience creating lesson content and planning your own lessons

Deep understanding of German grammar and language systems

Interest in and / or experience with AI in education

Data-driven mindset to make the best decisions for learners needs

Both native and non-native speakers of {language} are welcome to apply, but a C2 level mastery of the language is expected.

Advanced proficiency in English (C1 or above)
