We're excited to welcome an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Sous Chef to our team at Boxcar Hyde Park. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong restaurant and café experience who thrives in a fast-paced brunch environment and is looking to grow within a creative kitchen. Working closely with our Senior Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of a high-volume brunch venue while also gaining valuable exposure to the bakery side of the business. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting the Senior Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations
  • Preparing and cooking brunch menu items to a consistently high standard
  • Supporting ordering, stock rotation, and inventory management
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health, and safety standards
  • Supervising and supporting junior chefs and kitchen porters
  • Ensuring all kitchen sections remain clean, organized, and service-ready
  • Monitoring food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Assisting with prep schedules and smooth service coordination during busy periods
  • Contributing ideas for seasonal specials and menu development
  • Helping minimise waste and maintain cost control targets
  • Stepping into leadership responsibilities in the absence of senior chefs
  • Learning and supporting the bakery side of the kitchen operation
