Ottolenghi is renowned for its vibrant and innovative food, where quality and customer experience are at the heart of everything we do and we are now looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Baker to join our team and help us deliver exceptional food to our customers across London.
- Prepare, bake and finish a range of bakery products in line with Ottolenghi recipes, methods and quality standards.
- Manage the different stages of production, including mixing, shaping, proving, baking, cooling and finishing.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures and processes to achieve the best possible results.
- Ensure products meet the required standards for quality, taste, texture, appearance and presentation.
- Carry out regular checks on ingredients and finished products, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.
- Work efficiently to meet daily production plans and deadlines while maintaining high standards.
- Support and guide junior bakers and bakery assistants, sharing knowledge and helping them develop their skills.
- Work collaboratively with the Bakery Supervisor and wider team to ensure the smooth running of the production area.
- Help maintain appropriate stock levels of ingredients and supplies and communicate any requirements to the relevant team.
- Work closely with the warehouse and wider CPU teams to ensure ingredients and materials are available when needed.
- Follow stock rotation procedures and contribute to minimising food waste.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure equipment is used correctly and report any faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Support the wider bakery team during busy periods and contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment.
3+ years of professional baking experience, ideally with experience working in a busy bakery or food production environment. - Strong knowledge of professional baking techniques, ingredients and production processes.
- A strong eye for detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality products.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and health & safety requirements.
- Ability to organise your workload and work effectively to production deadlines.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior members of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Full-time position within a 7-day production operation. - Flexibility is required, including early mornings, weekends and holidays.
