The Role
Responsibility for leading, motivating and coaching the commercial team, including estimating, procurement and quantity surveying, reporting to the Group CFO. It is very much a “front facing” and “hands on” commercial role with extensive pre-contract involvement with (regular) customers and supply chain partners.
The Person
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Quantity Surveying trained (preferably degree in Quantity Surveying).
- Extensive (minimum of 10 years) experience in Quantity Surveying with building contractors constructing major schemes (over £50m) in the UK.
- Wider commercial experience in estimating, bids, client presentations and negotiations.
- Proven ability to build relationships, both with clients and supply chain partners.
- Experience with long term frameworks and alliances would be advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of common construction contracts, in particular NEC4.
This is a business with long term customer and supply chain relationships and the role requires a partnering approach rather than an adversarial one. There is a strong ethos of developing people within the business and a significant element of this role will be to coach and improve the capabilities of members of the team.
The base location is in Gloucestershire and so you should be living within the area or willing to relocate. A hybrid arrangement with occasional office visits is not an option for this role.
