The Finance Manager will report to the MD of Cheetah Marine and work closely with the rest of the senior team. This role requires hands-on financial and management accounting experience, knowledge of SAGE50 and other systems and will play an active role in ensuring costs are controlled tightly. This is a very varied role with opportunities to be involved in all aspects of the Cheetah Marine business as well as help to improve business reporting and simplify current finance processes. They must be capable of nurturing strong peer-level relationships and have significant experience of managing all aspects of the administrative tasks of a business, across Finance, Facilities and other administrative functions. It would be helpful to have some understanding of the marine industry or specialist manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoicing to clients and credit control, as well as the preparation and ongoing maintenance of boat production information.
- Daily cashflow management, including working with the stock controller / purchaser to ensure that relationships with suppliers are maintained.
- Develop accurate and insightful reporting from Sage50 and be responsible for its ongoing maintenance (including backup). This may also require migrating data to a new system in due course.
- Ensure compliance with all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including accounting for revenue recognition, movements of stock and work in progress, and the maintenance of accurate records for audit and reporting to Cheetah Marine’s parent company.
- Assist with accounting for payroll (outsourced payroll bureau), produce accurate VAT and other tax returns and maintain related balance sheet reconciliations (including weekly bank reconciliations).
- Prepare accurate audit schedules and timely balance sheet reconciliations including fixed and other assets, intercompany transactions.
- Production of budgets and forecasts for each boat in production, as well as the overall business.
- Manage all facilities spend (including utilities, rent, insurance and other overheads) and administrative tasks (including liaising with outsourced IT vendors).
- Assist with the maintenance of Health & Safety related records.
Requirements and Skills
- Strong systems capability. The ideal candidate will have experience of using SAGE 50, as well experience of using other accounting packages (to administrator level).
- They must be proficient with MS Office Products and must be an advanced Excel user and used to generating insightful reports. Power BI is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and capable of operating effectively with Directors, managers, colleagues, suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies. Comfortable at presenting aspects of financial performance in internal management review meetings.
- Proven experience as a management accountant or reporting analyst ideally within a maritime, manufacturing, or a comparable, industry.
- Thorough understanding of cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience with cash management, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
- Part qualified accounting certification (e.g. CIMA / ACCA) is desirable. As a minimum the successful candidate will have started studying for a financial qualification or be qualified by experience.
- Ongoing right to work in the UK.
This role will primarily be based in Ventnor, IOW.
