We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Analyst to join our dynamic Underwriting team in London. You will be part of a team that is responsible for underwriting enterprise customer applications with a focus on analysis relevant to Due Diligence, Credit Exposure and Financial Analysis. This role offers a unique exposure to our core business areas, collaborating closely with our key internal players (Business Development, Sales, Risk Legal teams and Senior Management) and our high value merchant and partners.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Conduct in-depth business model analysis in-line with internal policy guidelines and apply complex evaluation techniques to achieve the desired results for complex deals.
- Conduct proficient analysis of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements of complex business models and demonstrate a competent understanding of accounting principles.
- Assess credit risk for a diverse portfolio of businesses, including those in higher-risk industries such as travel, subscriptions, and gaming.
- Prepare persuasive summaries to assess micro and macro risks, mitigants and make balanced recommendations to present to management and the Credit Risk Committee.
- Represent Underwriting in attending customer calls and meetings alongside Sales or Account Management.
- Approve teammates’ credit submissions in line with delegated approval authority.
- Proactively identify operational issues and areas for improvement, and make detailed recommendations on how to improve the merchant onboarding experience.
- Foster a culture of collaboration with key internal stakeholders, in particular Sales, and first and second line Risk personnel and Legal.
- Act as a mentor to junior team members through training initiatives and credit approvals.
- Participate in Underwriting projects and initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in merchant underwriting, credit analysis, or a similar role.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent experience required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
- Proven ability to assess business models and identify credit risk exposures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of financial statement analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound judgment, balancing risk and reward.
- Experience within Customer Due Diligence (KYC and KYB).
- Adopt a ‘customer first’ mindset to deliver creative solutions as well as ‘act with urgency’ to ensure escalations are prioritized, owned and resolved effectively.
- High performance mindset defined by rigorous discipline and execution intensity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
