As we continue our rapid growth, we're seeking a proactive Benefits SME to take ownership of designing, implementing, and enhancing our benefits programs alongside the Global Benefits Manager, with a focus on the UK and Ireland, however this may expand over time. You'll drive the end-to-end benefits strategy and operations, collaborating closely with Checkout Regional People leaders, People Onboarding, and external vendors, as well as employees, to build best-in-class benefits offerings while ensuring seamless delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead Benefits Administration: Own and execute day‑to‑day operations of our regional benefits programs in the UK and Ireland, managing enrollments, payroll integrations, compliance, and employee inquiries.
- Manage Vendors and Systems: Serve as primary point of contact for external benefits providers and partners, negotiating contracts, overseeing invoices, and managing benefits systems including AON and other platforms.
- Drive Strategic Planning and Benchmarking: Shape the benefits strategy, researching market trends, analyzing plan utilization data, and recommending improvements to remain competitive and employee‑centric.
- Manage Renewals and Implementations: Own benefits renewals and new program implementations, conducting surveys, creating communications, and delivering presentations to help employees understand benefits.
- Solve Problems and Handle Escalations: Serve as benefits expert for issue resolution, troubleshoot system errors, resolve employee escalations, and streamline processes.
- Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Partner with Payroll, People Onboarding, Finance, and Procurement to ensure smooth, compliant execution, acting as subject matter expert and advisor.
- Take Full Ownership: Operate autonomously, ensuring operational excellence and long‑term strategic enhancements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing end‑to‑end benefits programs with deep understanding of benefits strategy, design, and administration in the UK (Ireland experience preferred).
- In‑depth knowledge of health, welfare, and retirement benefits administration, including vendor coordination, employee changes, life events, appeals, and annual enrollment.
- Vendor and Systems Management: Proven ability to manage vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee benefits systems and platforms.
- Strategic & Analytical Skills: Experience using data to analyze trends, benchmark the market, and recommend strategic improvements.
- Project Leadership: Hands‑on, proactive project management, leading renewals and new implementations with minimal guidance.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and presentation skills, with empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with employees and management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficiency with PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Experience using Workday or an alternative benefits platform, launching open enrollment, updating plans, running reports.
