Company Description

We're Checkout.com – you might not know our name, but we power the payment backend for many digital experiences, including Spotify, Klarna, Uber Eats, TikTok, Sony, and eBay. At Checkout.com, we handle over ten billion transactions each year for more than one billion shoppers globally, delivering seamless digital experiences at scale. We prioritize speed, global reach, and building our team together.

About the Team

The Account Services Group owns the customer experience. We sit at the heart of how merchants launch on the Checkout Platform, managing the end-to-end journey from a merchant’s first API call to ongoing compliance obligations and the platform infrastructure that supports global scale.

The Role

This role focuses on the evolution of the merchant account experience, ensuring the account data model supports enterprise and platform merchants, including hierarchies: platforms and sub-merchants. Your work shapes the entity model, onboarding lifecycle, and APIs that downstream teams depend on.

What You'll Do

  • In the near term: Take ownership of the core data model that defines who a merchant is on the Checkout Platform, driving adoption and expansion throughout the organization. Collaborate with other Product Managers to evolve eligibility services, ensuring merchants are matched to the right products at the right time.
  • Over time: Define the vision and roadmap for a unified Checkout Account that supports both Enterprise and Platform propositions. Lead cross-pillar efforts to drive account adoption, becoming the go-to owner of the account model across Checkout.com.
  • Strategy & Roadmap: Define and own the product roadmap for the merchant account domain, translating Checkout.com's platform strategy into actionable plans. Set product OKRs and build a metrics framework to track performance and guide prioritization.
  • Discovery & Delivery: Lead end-to-end product development from problem discovery and requirements definition to API and data model design, launch, and iteration. Work closely with engineering to design foundational services and APIs that are clean, scalable, and reliable for downstream teams.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Build strong partnerships across the organization (Salesforce, Pricing & Billing, risk, configuration, payments, and platforms teams) to ensure the account model serves every use case. Gain deep understanding of merchants and business needs, using this insight to sharpen prioritization and drive commercial outcomes. Communicate product decisions and progress to senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

About You

Experience: Product management experience with a track record of owning complex, infrastructure-level or platform products end-to-end. Experience with API design and data architecture; you care deeply about clean modeling of real-world complexity. Comfortable operating in regulated, high-consequence domains where correctness matters as much as speed. Experience in payments, fintech, or similarly regulated infrastructure environments is a plus.

What you bring: You want ownership over outcomes, not just features. You measure success by real-world impact, not by shipping milestones. You’re comfortable in high-consequence domains. You understand that correctness matters and avoid cutting corners. You care deeply about API design and data architecture. You take pride in building lasting abstractions. You’re energized by foundational work. Building systems that others depend on excites you. Data-driven and outcome-oriented; you define clear success metrics and use data to guide priorities. A clear communicator who can influence stakeholders and simplify complex topics for varied audiences.
