We’re Checkout.com – you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen. Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why. With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere – but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they’re fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day.
Checkout.com is looking for a visionary Head of Process Architecture to serve as the strategic operational leader across three critical pillars: Operations, Compliance, and Finance. In this role, you will bridge the gap between executive vision and tactical execution, moving beyond functional silos to design a unified, frictionless operating model. You will lead a central "Process Centre of Excellence," managing a team who are responsible for the integrity, scalability, and efficiency of our most critical value streams. You aren’t just fixing processes; you are designing the blueprint for how Checkout.com scales globally.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Develop and execute the process architecture strategy across Operations, Compliance, and Finance, ensuring these distinct functions integrate seamlessly to support our growth.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that cross functional boundaries, breaking down silos to improve efficiency and merchant experience.
- Manage and develop the Process Architecture team, driving a high-performance culture and building a robust internal talent pipeline.
- Establish the global "Process Excellence Standard", defining the methodologies, taxonomies, and governance frameworks that ensure consistency across the organisation.
- Act as the strategic partner to the Head of Risk Operations, Finance Operations, Compliance and Merchant Operations, translating their high-level business goals into executable operational roadmaps.
- Drive organisational change management and capability building, ensuring that new ways of working are culturally adopted by employees globally.
- Ensure that the architecture of our processes inherently supports regulatory requirements and audit standards, reducing risk while maintaining speed.
- Champion the adoption of advanced process technologies (Process Mining, Intelligent Automation, AI) to drive continuous improvement and ROI.
- Define strategic KPIs and report on the ROI of process initiatives to the Executive Leadership Team.
What We’re Looking For
- Success track record of managing Process Architecture, Operational Excellence, or Business Transformation functions, ideally with specific exposure to the Fintech or Payments sector.
- You have a proven track record of managing complex workflows across at least two of the three target areas: Core Operations, Financial Operations, or Regulatory Compliance.
- Experience managing "Managers" you have led multi-layered teams and know how to structure an org for scale.
- Deep expertise in process excellence standards (Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, BPMN, Kaizen) and how to apply them pragmatically in a tech-first environment.
- You see the "whole system" – understanding how a change in Compliance impacts Ops capacity and Finance reconciliation.
- Advanced education or certification in process excellence (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, BPMN, Kaizen), applied pragmatically to simplify and scale processes in a tech-first environment.
