Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why. Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career‑defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.

As part of its continued growth, Checkout.com is looking for an experienced thought leader to join our Finance Function to lead New Products onboarding in our London office. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring that the impacts to finance of product, geographic and market segment expansions are identified and addressed. You will be the key Finance representative for Accounting and Operation functions in ongoing engagement with Product and Engineering teams on change initiatives.

The successful candidate will coordinate across the sub‑disciplines such as Product Control, Finance Operations, Revenue and Billing, Cost of Sales and Financial Reporting to ensure that the new initiatives meet finance data, operations, accounting, financial reporting, audit and control requirements. This will be a hands‑on role and is an excellent platform for a Finance leader looking to step into a product and expansion‑focussed role within a vanguard FinTech.

An ideal candidate would have a strong technical foundation in financial accounting, reporting, risks and control, a well‑trained eye for effective and efficient processes, as well as a credible presence in supporting businesses through growth and expansion.

Role overview | Remit and Responsibilities

  • Build and deepen relationships with the various Product and Engineering teams to be part of the day‑to‑day product, market, and client development processes.
  • Be the voice of Financial Control, Accounting and Operations on product implementations across new regions, currencies, licenses, products etc.
  • Translate incoming information, and work with Finance System Architects, Regional Controllers, Tax, Treasury and other finance stakeholders to clearly assess Finance requirements, process impacts, as well as designing and implementing solutions for all Financial Control and Accounting disciplines.
  • Effectively partner and challenge broader product and commercial teams to ensure any new product offering is developed and optimised to meet Finance data, system integration, financial accounting/reporting, audit and control requirements.
  • Take ownership for Finance readiness sign‑off, which includes:
  • Proactively managing the Finance plan/timeline to deliver against future initiatives.
  • Identifying existing gaps/problems that need solving and influencing broader Finance and Product teams to remove any roadblocks for future product implementations.
  • Where conflicting priorities are presented, undertake a risk‑based impact assessment and apply clear exception acceptance criteria for new activities.
  • Providing clarity to key stakeholders on the status of product implementations and escalating any non‑compliant solutions as needed.
  • Create and implement a framework to capture, assess and report on new initiatives and document key requirements and decision making.

Role overview | Desired Background, Core Competencies

  • Successful candidates will bring senior level experience within an organisation with complex products and features, ideally within traditional finance/banking or payments/fintech.
  • They need to understand best‑in‑class finance controls and reconciliations, and bring their thought leadership to be the Change Agent we seek.
  • They should be comfortable bringing their vision to the table, as well as being hands‑on and operational where needed.
  • As a thought leader, you will be leading through others and therefore the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and senior leaders is a must.
  • Professional finance qualification such as the ACA or equivalent with significant post qualification experience.
  • You will also hold practical knowledge of IFRS and general accounting and control principles.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise on financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations and controls experience ideally within a listed environment of a global financial services or payments/fintech organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in working with cross‑functional teams to deliver finance transformational/change projects.
  • Proven track record dealing with multiple stakeholders, employing varying engagement and communication styles.
  • Expertise in supporting businesses through growth and expansion would be highly desirable.
  • You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems.
