Checkout.com is seeking a dedicated Commercial Paralegal to join our Legal Team to support its rapid business growth. You’ll be part of our global Commercial Legal team, a dynamic and innovative team of commercial lawyers with deep payments and technology expertise. You will partner with stakeholders across the business on a broad range of commercial matters globally.
How you’ll make an impact
- Contract Negotiation: negotiating commercial agreements (merchant, supplier and partner) and amendments/accessions, defending Checkout’s playbook positions and collaborating with our team of expert Legal Counsels to accommodate deviations.
- Commercial Advisory: providing creative and commercially-focussed advisory support to stakeholders across Checkout’s range of commercial matters globally (e.g. Sales, Account Management, Financial Partnerships, Procurement).
- Strategic Projects: contributing to Checkout’s strategic expansion projects, building new products and advancing into new territories.
- Use of Legal Technology: Adopt and utilise our rapidly developing Legal AI stack (Ironclad, Legora, Glean, Gemini) to support both lawyers and the business team with agent-enabled legal support.
- Knowledge Management and Legal Optimisation: Lead on projects to automate, improve and manage team knowledge, playbooks and external legal content. Develop and improve processes/training to enable Legal and business teams to move faster. Utilise Jira/Confluence for efficient team work allocation.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate and/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 2 years+ prior in-house experience as a legal professional (e.g. paralegal, legal assistant, contract manager), working in private practice or in-house.
What we're looking for
- Experience working internationally (prior experience in a high-growth Fintech, Technology company or another fast-paced, dynamic environment would be a plus).
- Demonstrated experience of using enterprise AI tools to support provision of legal advice and increased efficiency.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle a high workload.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently with minimal supervision.
- High level of written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Be open-minded and willing to accept new challenges.
- Be a systemic thinker with proven abilities for process improvement and simplification.
- Experience or interest in Legal Operations.
