Overview

In this Group Product Manager role, you’ll lead the fraud domain for Payment Performance, shaping the strategy and roadmap for a best-in-class fraud engine. You’ll co-own the Fraud Data Science roadmap and collaborate with Engineering, Analytics, Fraud Operations and Design to protect Checkout and its customers in real-time. You’ll work with world‑class merchants to understand fraud challenges and translate them into measurable product outcomes. This is a portfolio leadership role focused on scalable, ML-powered protection that adapts to evolving threats.

Responsibilities

  • Set the fraud strategy with a unified vision and roadmap for merchant fraud products, real-time decisioning, and Checkout-wide protection
  • Close core gaps and build differentiated capabilities to shift competitive dynamics
  • Balance merchant fraud, Checkout losses, acceptance impact, FDP revenue, and operational effort in priority setting
  • Define protection needs for Enterprise, Platforms, SMBs, and other Checkout products
  • Improve real-time decisioning performance, coverage, and resilience
  • Enable configurable protection levels for merchants (manual, recommendations, or Autopilot)
  • Provide investigative and response tooling for fraud trends to improve protection
  • Enhance monitoring, explainability, controls, recommendations, alerts, and investigation experiences
  • Expand protection against new fraud types via data, models, and faster learning loops
  • Co-own Fraud Data Science roadmap and align with product outcomes and trade-offs
  • Ensure product economics: value measurement, adoption, packaging, and pricing input
  • Partner with Commercial and Product Marketing to articulate merchant value
  • Define boundaries and feedback loops with Risk Operations to connect automated decisions with accounts actions
  • Lead, coach, and develop Product Managers; establish clear ownership and goals
  • Create an effective operating model across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Design, and Fraud Operations
  • Align senior stakeholders around evidence-based priorities and trade-offs
  • Lead the team to a unified strategy and roadmap within the FDP, Autopilot, and core fraud domains
  • Establish a strong joint operating model across Product, Data Science, Engineering and Fraud Operations
  • Build a high-performing PM team with clear accountability across the fraud domain

Key requirements

  • Deep experience building fraud or risk products in payments or high-volume decisioning environments
  • Strong understanding of fraud models, rules, controls and trade-offs between fraud prevention, false positives, and customer experience
  • Proven track record setting strategy and delivering outcomes across multiple related products or teams
  • Proven success leading and developing Product Managers
  • Ability to bring clarity and structure to complex problem spaces
  • Strong quantitative judgment and experience with model performance, experimentation, and financial analysis
  • Credibility with Engineering and Data Science teams building real-time, ML-powered products
  • Commercial judgment and ability to connect technical capabilities to customer value and business outcomes
