We’re Checkout.com – you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen. Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.

With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere – but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they’re fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day. Ideal. Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.

We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Data Analyst to join our Financial Crime Compliance team. Your core objective will be to lead continuous improvements and implement data-driven controls across all compliance core areas. You will support regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, and testing, while acting as a key data consultant for cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and actionable insights. In this role, you will go beyond just displaying numbers; you will be responsible for "telling the story" behind the data to drive executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dashboarding & Storytelling: Design, build, and maintain high-impact, interactive dashboards using BI tools (like Looker, BigQuery, etc.) that drive decision-making for executive leadership.
  • Data Quality & Troubleshooting: Lead the definition of data quality standards. Perform root-cause analysis on data discrepancies, implement automated alerts for anomalies, and work directly with Engineering, BI, and Analytics teams to permanently fix upstream data issues.
  • Compliance Consulting: Act as a dedicated data consultant and point of contact for specific Compliance verticals.
  • Project Leadership: Lead small to medium-sized data projects from conception to delivery, managing timelines and stakeholder expectations with a high degree of autonomy.
  • KPI & KRI Management: Lead the creation and monitoring of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Regulatory & Ad-hoc Support: Support crucial regulatory reporting, manage code migrations (e.g., Snowflake to BigQuery), and respond to ad-hoc data intake tasks.
  • Technical Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Provide guidance and technical support to Compliance team members. Conduct code reviews (SQL), perform 4-eye checks on code and dashboards, and champion best practices for data visualization.
  • Documentation: Ensure all work is thoroughly documented and saved in a formatted, reproducible manner for repeated tasks and audits.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in data-driven processes and data analytics.
  • Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills and a heavily data-driven approach to problem-solving. Solid experience utilizing BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) to build impactful visualizations. Good understanding of Machine Learning concepts in model risk management. Bonus: Python programming experience is a strong plus.
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills, with the proven ability to explain complex, technical topics clearly and confidently to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong people skills and a genuine interest in working in a customer-facing, highly collaborative environment.
Ways of Working (What We Expect From You)
  • Proactive Communication: Keep stakeholders and management informed. If a data pipeline breaks, a regulatory report will be late, or a deadline cannot be met, we expect proactive updates.
  • Solution-Oriented Mindset: When bringing a blocker to the team's attention, make an effort to propose a solution and ask, "what’s next?"
  • Honesty & Transparency: We value straight talk. If you need more support, different tools, or are feeling overwhelmed by competing priorities, it is your responsibility to be honest and speak up.
  • Time Management: Clear communication around working schedules and effective management of your time and priorities.
Our Commitment to You (What You Can Expect From Us)
  • Strategic Context: We will provide clear visibility into broader business and compliance goals so you understand exactly why your work matters and how it drives executive decisions.
  • Ruthless Prioritisation: Because you act as a consultant for all of Compliance, you will be pulled in many directions. We will help you prioritize effectively and shield you from ad-hoc, low-value requests.
  • Unblocking: When you identify upstream data issues requiring Engineering or BI intervention, expect management to step in and escalate if you hit organizational roadblocks.
  • Autonomy & Trust: We give you the space to lead projects from conception to delivery without micromanagement, stepping in only when you ask for guidance.
  • Career Advocacy: You will receive regular, constructive feedback. We will recognize your impact and actively look for opportunities to advance your skills and career trajectory.

We create the conditions for high performers to thrive, through real ownership, fewer blockers, and work that makes a difference from day one. Here, you’ll move fast, take on meaningful challenges, and be recognized for the impact you deliver. It’s a place where ambition gets met with opportunity, and where your growth is in your hands.

We work as one team, and we back each other to succeed. So whatever your background or identity, if you’re ready to grow and make a difference, you’ll be right at home here.

It’s important we set you up for success and make our process as accessible as possible. So let us know in your application, or tell your recruiter directly, if you need anything to make your experience or working environment more comfortable.

We understand that work is just one part of your life. Our hybrid working model offers flexibility, with three days per week in the office to support collaboration and connection.
