The Role

At Checkmate Fire Solutions, we’re continuing to grow and are looking for a commercially driven Estimator to join our team in Harlow, Essex. You will play a key role in securing and delivering profitable work across our expanding business. This is an opportunity to bring your estimating expertise into a specialist environment where quality, technical knowledge and commercial performance really matter.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing detailed and accurate estimates for passive fire protection projects
  • Leading pricing for tenders and large-scale bids
  • Working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and operational teams
  • Developing competitive pricing strategies, rate schedules and cost models
  • Attending site visits, surveys and pre-contract meetings
  • Supporting the successful handover of projects from estimating through to delivery
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our estimating and commercial processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in construction estimating and project costing
  • Excellent commercial awareness and numerical/analytical skills
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience within passive fire protection, fire stopping or fire doors would be highly advantageous
  • A good understanding of construction standards and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Someone who is commercially minded, proactive and enjoys working as part of a growing team
