We\’re looking for a Strategic Finance Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a critical role, partnering closely with senior leaders to shape the future of Checkatrade as we continue to scale. Location: King\’s Cross, London. Hybrid working applies (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). Please note that this role will require you to travel to our Portsmouth office occasionally.
Where do you fit in?
- Capital Allocation Strategy: Lead the development of robust capital allocation plans to maximise ROI and align with long-term strategic goals.
- Financial Analysis & Appraisal: Conduct ROI modelling, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario planning across key initiatives and M&A.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with FP&A and Financial Control to capture investment initiatives in budget cycles.
- Performance Monitoring: Track investment outcomes and recommend strategic pivots based on data-driven insights.
- Business Partnering: Support and challenge executive leaders to drive optimal financial decision-making.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify financial risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance standards.
What do you need to succeed?
- Big 4 experience (TS, CF, M&A), or strategy consulting, or experience in a strategic/commercial finance role in a high-growth business
- You\’re commercially astute, curious, and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
- You thrive in dynamic environments and have a natural ability to influence stakeholders through sharp insights and strong relationship-building.
- Strategic thinker with sharp analytical skills and strong business judgment
- High attention to detail and confident juggling multiple priorities
- Clear communicator-equally comfortable summarising complex analysis or presenting to C-level stakeholders
- Proactive and self-directed with a collaborative spirit
- Comfortable working across both high-level strategy and hands-on detail
