As our next Senior Internal Communications Lead, you’ll own the heartbeat of how Checkatrade talks with its people. You’ll act as the strategic bridge between the Executive Leadership Team and the wider business, shaping the stories, channels, and rituals that keep everyone aligned, energised, and pointed toward our north star of Powering Great Work. If you're someone who can make a company feel connected and proud of where it's going, this role was written for you.

What you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Leading and evolving our internal communications strategy, shifting from broadcast messaging to high-value, two-way interactions that genuinely connect people to what we're building.
  • Partnering with the CEO and senior leadership to shape key messages, helping them communicate with clarity and warmth through change, growth, and the moments that matter most.
  • Turning business updates into stories people actually care about, helping every employee understand not just what we're doing, but why it matters for trades, homeowners, and our own team.
  • Owning the comms strategy for high-stakes moments, bringing calm, clarity, and confidence when the landscape shifts.
  • Keeping the customer at the centre of every story.
  • Making sure our internal comms always connects back to the impact we have on trades and homeowners, so every employee feels the thread between their work and the people we serve.
  • Championing our AI-Powered value in practice, auditing and optimising our comms ecosystem so we're being smart and data-driven, not just busy.
  • Creating real space for conversation, using data and feedback to understand what's landing, celebrating the wins, and building the social glue that keeps us connected as we grow.

What we’re looking for:

  • A background in communications within a digital, technology, or high-growth environment where things move quickly and the stakes are real.
  • Exceptional writing skills and a sharp instinct for tone, with the ability to take complex strategy and make it human, clear, and worth reading.
  • Confidence working with senior leaders on sensitive topics, with the gravitas to give honest strategic counsel, not just execution support.
  • A genuine curiosity about technology and AI, and a real interest in culture that goes beyond the surface.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary + end of contract bonus
  • Health, well-being and learning support
  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme
  • Birthday/Special day leave
  • Buy & sell holiday scheme
  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

How we’ll get to know each other:

  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners
  • 1st stage interview with Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Chief People Officer
  • Final Stage interview with our CEO

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box. At the moment, this role isn’t open to visa sponsorship applications.
