As our next Principal Product Manager, Consumer Product, you'll take full ownership of the homeowner experience across web and app, one of the most important levers we have for building the UK's most trusted home improvement marketplace. This is a role where your decisions will be felt by millions of homeowners every year: how they search, how they choose, how much they trust what they find. You'll set the vision, build the systems and raise the bar on quality, all while keeping the team moving at real pace.

Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Defining an ambitious, long-term vision for the Checkatrade consumer experience then turning it into a focused, deliverable roadmap that the team can actually execute against.
  • Setting and relentlessly defending the standard for what a best-in-class homeowner experience looks like, and holding the team accountable to it not just in theory, but in every shipped feature.
  • Partnering hand-in-hand with Engineering to break down the technical and organisational blockers that slow delivery - owning the outcome, not just the spec.
  • Owning the full consumer funnel - discoverability, conversion, trust, satisfaction and retention - and using data, experimentation and insight to move the needle on all of it.
  • Building and raising the standards of a high-performing, cross-functional product team with clear ownership, a bias for action and an uncompromising eye for quality.
  • Acting as a visible custodian of quality across the organisation - aligning the roadmap to commercial outcomes and championing the consumer at every level of the business.

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:

  • 10+ years in senior product roles, with full end-to-end ownership of a consumer-facing product at scale and a track record of experiences that real people love and that move conversion, engagement and retention.
  • Boldness and vision: the ability to articulate a clear, ambitious view of what the product should become (not just an incremental improvement plan) and bring people with you on that journey.
  • Execution edge: you actually ship. You drive delivery with Engineering, remove blockers, hold pace and don't let quality slip while doing it.
  • Deep analytical rigour and commercial fluency - you use experimentation, funnel analysis and consumer insight to drive decisions, and you understand how product choices connect to revenue and long-term consumer lifetime value.

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s just a taste:

  • Competitive salary + annual bonus
  • Employee Share Programme
  • Health, well-being and learning support
  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme
  • Birthday/Special day leave
  • Buy & sell holiday scheme
  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

How we’ll get to know each other:

  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners
  • 1st stage interview with the hiring manager
  • 2nd Stage interview with our Panel
  • Final stage interview includes a case study presentation with the Hiring manager & CEO

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box.
