As our next Growth Marketing Lead, SME Trade Acquisition, you’ll own the engine that brings the right tradespeople into Checkatrade. This isn't a campaign management role — it's an end-to-end acquisition leadership position where you’ll shape strategy, drive performance and help build the commercial foundation for the next phase of Checkatrade's growth. As we evolve from a lead‑gen subscription business into a wider platform for UK trades, your work will directly determine how many of the right SME trades join us, at what cost, and with what quality.

What you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Own SME acquisition across paid search, paid social, retargeting and database activation, making sure targeting, messaging, creative and conversion journeys are pulling in the same direction.
  • Build a sharp view of acquisition performance across CAC, lead quality, sign‑ups, conversion and sales handoff, then use those signals to sharpen spend allocation and improve commercial outcomes.
  • Run a focused test‑and‑learn programme across ads, landing pages, journeys, creative and sales handoff, shipping tests fast, reading the results and driving the next round without waiting for perfect.
  • Work with Product Marketing and Product to sharpen the SME proposition and translate trade insight, channel data and Sales feedback into clear briefs and test plans.
  • Partner with Sales, Lifecycle and CRM to make sure acquisition activity feeds strong demand into the subscription business while building the entry points and nudges that support product‑led growth over time.
  • Use AI actively across analysis, creative production, insight and workflow, helping the team move faster from insight to message to asset to test.

What you’ll do well / What you’ll need:

  • Previous B2B marketplace, subscription, SaaS or product‑led growth experience, with a track record of improving conversion, activation and sales outcomes, not just running campaigns.
  • Strong commercial instincts: you think in CAC, LTV, cohorts and payback, and you use those lenses to shape channel mix, targeting and investment decisions.
  • Experience running test‑and‑learn programmes end to end, from hypothesis to result to decision, and comfort working across paid channels, landing pages, product entry points and sales journeys together.
  • Confidence using AI tools day to day, including for analysis, creative development, research, testing and workflow improvement, and comfort with tools like GA4, Looker, Amplitude or similar.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary + annual bonus
  • Employee Share Programme
  • Health, well‑being and learning support
  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme
  • Birthday/Special day leave
  • Buy & sell holiday scheme
  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

Interview Process:

  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners
  • 1st stage interview with Senior Trade Growth Analyst and Senior Trade Marketing Designer
  • 2nd Stage interview with hiring Manager
  • Final stage interview includes a case study presentation with hiring manager

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box.
