Cheadle Hulme School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Estates Manager to take responsibility for the leadership and management of the School’s physical assets, estates and grounds. Set in 83 acres of sprawling land, the estate includes numerous Victorian buildings, including a refurbished Victorian swimming pool, and extensive sports pitches. Alongside our heritage, we have an ambition to ensure the site meets our future needs.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will work closely with them to implement the estates strategy and capital expenditure proposals, in alignment with the School’s vision, operational needs and long‑term development plans. You will oversee the delivery of capital projects and planned maintenance, procuring and coordinating external contractors. You will also work closely with the Directors of Finance and Operations to set, manage and monitor estates‑related budgets.
In addition, you will have day‑to‑day operational oversight of the Estates and Grounds teams, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, while delivering an efficient, well‑maintained and welcoming estate. We are looking for an experienced estates/facilities management professional, ideally with experience within a regulated environment. You will have experience of overseeing capital projects and a track record of successful project management, as well as being a strong leader with the ability to manage teams.
This role is required on a permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week all year round. The usual hours are 8am-4pm, although flexibility is required in line with operational activities on site (including evening and weekends). You will act as the designated on‑call key holder which may require out of hours working.
In return, CHS offers a warm and welcoming community, and the chance to work in a school where inclusion and care are at the heart of everything we do. Cheadle Hulme School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Closing date: Tuesday 17 February at 8am. We reserve the right to close applications early if sufficient interest is received.
