PART TIME CARE HOME CHEF REQUIRED

LOCATION: Staines-upon-Thames

HOURS: Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 6am till 6pm - 33 hours per week

An army marches on its stomach, so they say, and whilst care residents' marching days are mostly behind them, nutrition plays just as crucial a part in staying healthy and maintaining wellbeing as it has always done. With this in mind, we are looking for an experienced chef, who loves their food and is trained to NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent, as well as possessing an intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate as a minimum.

Our care home menus are frequently changing, as we look to offer some variety for our residents, especially across the seasons, so if you like to mix it up in the kitchen, that is a definite plus point – and we are happy for you to get creative in what you are looking to offer. You will, though, be cooking for people with specialist dietary requirements, so this will need to be factored in at all times.

You will be given free reign to order what is needed to produce your culinary masterpieces, but you will need to work within a budget, ensuring stock control is at the right level to maintain a high standard of service, with everything in accordance with health and safety regulations.

As a chef working in care, you will be playing a crucial role in keeping people healthy and happy – so there is a lovely element of reward involved, as well as the opportunity to form some great friendships with those you are catering for.

You will need:

  • to be motivated, reliable and have excellent communication skills
  • be able to work well in a team
  • to respect and care for all residents as individuals, ensuring that their personal choices and preferences are respected and that individual dignity is respected at all times
  • to perform delegated tasks as instructed by the Home Manager so as to promote improvements in service

Qualifications:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent catering certificate
  • To hold intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate

If you do not have the required criteria but have knowledge of a catering/kitchen service and have a genuine interest in working within a care environment, we will be happy to work with you to help you become an excellent Cook.

What we are offering:

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free meal per shift
  • Free, face-to-face & interactive training
  • Career development and opportunities
  • NEST pension plan
  • Free DBS check*
  • Refer a friend scheme*
  • Long service reward scheme

*subject to Ts & Cs

We want to hear from you. CHD Living is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults as its number one priority and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an Equal Opportunities Employer. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and satisfactory references.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £14.50-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 33 per week

Benefits:

  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking
