We are currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to work in London with us for a 12month maternity cover contract.

Location: London – ad hoc travel may be required occasionally outside of London. Mobile position

Salary: £42,000 per annum 12 month fixed term contract

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday- 40 hours per week, 9am to 5pm, can be flexible

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as one of the regional HSE managers responsible for supporting the management of health, safety and environment across all sectors within a defined geographical sector with brand alignment.
  • To be the SME and lead for specific functional topics.
  • To provide competent advice, guidance and support to operational teams to enable them to carry out their HSE responsibilities.
  • To undertake reactive and proactive monitoring of HSE including incident investigation, audits, inspections and analysis of performance data.
  • To support the retention and mobilisation of new business in order to facilitate the implementation of effective HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Delivery of H&S performance indicators
  • Delivery of Food, health and safety & Allergen performance indicators
  • Delivery of proactive internal auditing

Role Specific

  • Effective liaison (including meetings) with the sector MD, operational leadership and clients (where required) teams to ensure they are kept informed of HSE initiatives, updates or improvements.
  • To ensure the alignment of any sector specific HSE plans to the business needs and sharing of best practise.
  • Provide competent HSE advice, guidance and support to managers across the sectors, obtaining specialist support when required.
  • Support the communication of important HSE messages out to regional operational teams to help drive HSE compliance.
  • Investigate reactive incidents and enforcement action within a timely manner through the effective engagement of the operations teams and support functions such as legal, HR, L&D as required.
  • Support the implementation of corporate HSE initiatives across the regions to improve operational compliance.
  • Assist in the programme of auditing with CH&CO HSE policies and procedures.
  • Support operations in site mobilisations and ongoing support for new business.
  • Work with sector HSE Champions to develop a safety of culture.
  • Extensive travel to CH&CO sites to ensure delivery of proactive and reactive site visits and operational support. Approx 4 days per week travel depending on business need.
  • Monitor incidents and accidents and investigate, where necessary, advice and close our incidents reported.
  • Engage with HSE regulators in the event of likely enforcement actions or disputes.

Person specific

  • Experience in managing health and safety in a multi-site environment.
  • Chartered QHSE professional desired
  • Knowledge of catering business procedures and practices.
  • Enthusiastic and motivational.
  • Organised, able to judge and prioritise as per business requirements.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals across the company.
  • An ability to influence sector, operational and site management with conviction to deliver findings in a robust manner.
  • The ability to work on own initiative.
  • Willingness to travel / work away from home on a regular basis.
  • Flexible to adapt to changing situations and schedules.
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm, energy and drive for the role

  • Health and safety qualification
