Role Summary
CHC Helicopters have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Crew Training (MCT) to join the team. The MCT is responsible for the provision of the CHC UK Flight Training program to support safe and compliant operations. Reporting directly to Head of Flight Training CHC and for regulatory AOC purposes to the Accountable Manager UK AOC, the MCT will have direct leadership of TRI and TREβs in their operation. The MCT must be acceptable to UKCAA as the Nominated Person Crew Training.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining a training system appropriate to the company's operational needs, with safety of company operations the first priority
- Driving implementation and adherence of the CHC harmonized flight operations standards and procedures within CHC
- Ensuring a high standard of training and testing is maintained according to OM Part A, B, C, D, F, and G
- The monitoring and maintenance of flight crew training through regular observation and appraisal in the training and examining role
- Ensuring training programs are arranged for efficient and cost effective use of aircraft, simulators, training facilities and training manpower according to the requirements of the operations manual
- Setting flight crew proficiency standards at the highest level appropriate to the safety of line operations in close liaison with other MCTβs and under supervision of the Head of Flight Training
- Meeting the requirements of relevant regulations as appropriate at all times so far as they relate to training, testing and checking of flight crew
- Maintaining active and positive dialogue with regulatory agencies ensuring acceptable standards and business continuity
- The content and UKCAA approval of the worldwide harmonized Company OM Part D
- Development of staff management capability through career development discussions and supported with performance appraisals in accordance with company policy
- Ensuring that activities within the training department are carried out according to established SMS principles in the Company
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of QMS/LMS/EGS system and associated pilot record management ensuring audit readiness and compliance with OMD requirements
- Work closely with outside resources for the delivery of training
- Maintaining active and positive dialogue with customers, and relevant 3rd party providers, ensuring acceptable standards and business continuity
- Maintain in depth knowledge of relevant regulations
- Must be willing to fly in their AOC on to maintain recency
- Be an active member of the UK CHC Management Team & support other UK department and functions when required, including engaging in business development strategy & assisting others to develop well costed and operationally deliverable solutions
- All further responsibilities as outlined in the Operating Manual A
- Attending and participating in the Operational Review Board & other management meetings as required by the role
- Must be willing to travel internationally at times with short notice
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
Suitable candidates will have the following:
- Skills and Experience
- Considerable aviation Management experience including time in helicopter sector
- Effective leadership and management skills, ability to mentor and drive a high performing team
- Knowledgeable of local aviation legislation and standards
- Experience developing and delivering training programs
- Satisfactory record in conduct or management of air operations
- Satisfactory record in conduct or management of training and checking in relation to air operations
- Experience in setting up training systems/methodologies and procedures
- Experience with project-orientated working methods
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent collaborative problem solving skills with an ability to envision a system wide solution
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to conduct research in course development and delivery concepts
- Ability to work under pressure to achieve and maintain pre-determined service levels
- Qualifications
- Meet the requirements for UKCAA Crew Training post holder
- Must be IOGP compliant for Captain O&G operations
- Have a UK ATPL (H) with IR
- Significant trainer experience
- Valid type rating on a CHC UK aircraft type (preferred)
- Valid TRE/SFE or TRI/SFI on CHC UK aircraft type (preferred)
