The Athenaeum Hotel is part of the Chautauqua Hotel Company, a historic full-service comprehensive hotel that has 150 rooms for guests. It houses the Heirloom Restaurant and the Lobby Lounge. The hotel operates from late April through October for conferences and events, and in full operation during the Chautauqua summer season, from late June through late August.

About Your Compensation
Compensation for this position starts at $18.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $20.00/Hour.

About Your Work Day
Complete end‐of‐day processes and post the daily final numbers for the Athenaeum Hotel. Operate computers with accounting software to record, summarize, and analyze financial information. Receive, audit, and record monies, credit/gift card transactions, and cash or POS sales. Debit, credit, and total accounts in Excel while checking for mathematical accuracy. Reconcile and report discrepancies. Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses. Follow proper cash and credit card handling procedures. Accurately complete paperwork and cash‐out procedures. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of technology solutions used at the front desk. Provide overnight guests with excellent customer service while taking reservations, answering questions, and completing check‐in/out procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Address guest requests and concerns immediately and always with a professional attitude. Answer and transfer all incoming telephone calls using proper telephone etiquette. Provide safety and security for the hotel and its guests. Follow the hotel key‐control procedures at all times.

About the Referral Program
Chautauqua Institution's Referral Bonus Program provides a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions working less than six months, the new candidate must remain employed for at least 30 days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season, which is the last Sunday in August.

About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part‐time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre‐season) and beyond season (post‐season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. Typical schedule: eight‐hour shift with a start time of 11 p.m., totaling 24‐40 hours per week. Scheduled hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Part‐time work is available pre/post the summer season (mid‐April to late‐October).
