About Your Compensation: Compensation for this position starts at $16.00 per hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $17.50 per hour.
About Your Work Day:
- Must be able to load and unload a commercial dishwashing machine with the correct items, set the temperature, and use the appropriate amount of detergent, as well as assemble and disassemble before and after use.
- Notify a supervisor if the machine breaks down or requires a specific part.
- After cleaning, store and organize utensils so other kitchen workers have immediate access.
- Work in a team environment with professionalism while handling multiple priorities.
- Take out trash and secure it in dumpsters; supply garbage cans with new bags once completed.
- Sweep, mop, and keep the dish‑washing area neat and clean; no food scraps on cabinets, sinks, tables, or equipment, and all surfaces wiped and sanitized.
- Observe all food‑safety requirements; assist cooks with certain procedures and techniques when called upon; provide service and attention to back‑storage areas, coolers, and freezers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
About the Referral Program: Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program offers a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees who refer a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions working less than 6 months, the new candidate must remain employed for at least 30 days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season (the last Sunday in August).
About Your Schedule: Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part‑time, for seasonal employment during summer operations each June through August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre‑season) and beyond season (post‑season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Generally, the position requires a six‑ or eight‑hour shift with a start time that varies between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.
