The Athenaeum Hotel is a historic full-service hotel with 150 rooms for guests, open from late April through October for conferences and events. The hotel operates fully during the Chautauqua Institution summer season, from late June through late August.
Compensation: Starts at $17.00/hour, with potential to earn up to $19.00/hour based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome each hotel guest with energy and positivity.
- Serve as an information centre by demonstrating knowledge of Chautauqua Institution and the Athenaeum Hotel.
- Check guests in/out and print tickets for in-house guests.
- Sell hotel rooms and make reservations using established procedures.
- Address guest requests and concerns immediately with a professional attitude.
- Communicate effectively with management and colleagues about guest needs.
- Provide safety and security for the hotel and its guests.
- Follow hotel key control procedures at all times.
- Operate POS system for reservations and transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of sales transactions and refunds.
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of hotel equipment.
- Use proper telephone etiquette for calls and messages.
- Keep workstation clean and perform light housekeeping duties as assigned.
Referral Program: A $500 referral bonus is available for active employees referring new candidates who remain employed for at least 90 days.
Schedule: Flexible schedules are offered for seasonal employment, typically including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Anticipated schedules are eight-hour shifts with varying start times between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Housing: No employer-provided housing is available; applicants should secure independent housing.
