Job Summary

Working within the Finance department of Chaucer, a leading speciality insurance group with Lloyd's and Company market operations, headquartered in London with international hubs for Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for the production, review and coordination of Chaucer Group reporting to the parent company and other key stakeholders, ensuring reporting is delivered accurately, on time and in accordance with Group policies and reporting requirements.

β€’ Monthly and quarterly consolidated management reporting, including

  • Related party transaction reporting including inter-group reinsurance arrangements.
  • IFRS conversion process for risk margins, discounting and liability adequacy testing.
  • Conducting Balance Sheet and Income Statement analysis reviews, investigating trends and variances, challenging unusual results and ensuring satisfactory resolution of reporting issues and queries.
  • Half and full year IFRS Group templates, explanatory notes and segment reporting.
  • Annual non-statutory IFRS compliant consolidated accounts, explanatory notes and associated management information.
  • Annual production of data to support rating agency reviews.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of regulatory and external stakeholder reporting requirements, including reporting to parent company, regulators, rating agencies and other external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with Group Accounting Policies and supporting the implementation of new accounting, reporting and regulatory requirements across the Group.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, including actuarial, underwriting, risk, auditors and parent company stakeholders, to ensure high-quality reporting outputs are delivered to the required standards and deadlines.
  • Own the planning, coordination and delivery of Group reporting cycles, including the preparation and maintenance of reporting timetables, management of key dependencies and coordination of stakeholders across the business.
  • Support the implementation of Group Accounting Policies and provide technical input on accounting and reporting matters where required.
  • Support the preparation and review of UK GAAP / FRS 102 legal entity financial statements, working closely with the Corporate Accounting & Consolidations team and providing reporting and technical support where required.
  • Production of legal entity management accounts to support Group financing and LOC covenants, as well as inter-group dividends.
  • Support the Group and legal entity audit process, liaising with internal and external auditors and ensuring all information required is produced and audits are completed on time.
  • Exercise professional judgement in identifying, investigating and resolving complex reporting matters, escalating only issues of significant risk, judgement or complexity where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a robust control environment and maintain a sound system of internal controls.
  • Responsible for the documentation of procedures affecting the areas under supervision.
  • Actively identify and deliver opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, governance and automation, supporting the continued development of the Group Reporting function and broader Finance transformation initiatives.
  • Active participation in finance transformation projects and other relevant initiatives, with a focus on Group reporting requirements.
