Responsible for providing support to the Underwriting team, particularly in interpreting, preparing and analysing underwriting data to supply comprehensive modelling information to aid the underwriting process.

Responsibilities

  • Support class and other underwriters in all aspects of underwriting and account management.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality control with Risk Admin.
  • Model PV risks and liaise with the Credit Control Department.
  • Prepare and monitor peer‑review meetings.
  • Maintain risk history, including organisation and filing.
  • Assist with special projects and maintain aggregate exposure records.
  • Prepare statistics and assist other PV Class underwriters as required.
  • Assist the PV Unit Head with management data monitoring.

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Comply with all policies and procedures, ensuring good customer outcomes and fair treatment of customers.
  • Manage relationships with customers, agents and service providers; advise, assist, and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and understand their needs.
  • Ensure customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred appropriately.
  • Complete all required annual product review assessments within agreed timescales, obtaining and recording approvals.
  • Follow Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and secure appropriate approvals.
  • Ensure that the principles of good customer outcomes and fair treatment are upheld by agents and service providers.

Skills and Competencies

  • Lloyd’s Market box / Syndicate experience.
  • Other insurance experience.
  • Mathematics, data and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and charisma.
  • Understanding of the risks being taken.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels and adaptability.
  • Team‑working ability.

Education

  • Fully or almost qualified ACII qualification – job holders will be expected to achieve Associate status within a reasonable period of time.
