The MI Reporting Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and leading Chaucer’s enterprise reporting capability. As the organisation progresses through a major data transformation programme including the migration to a new cloud‑based data platform, the creation of a single source of truth, and the enhancement of our data and analytics capabilities. This role is critical in driving the successful delivery of improved reporting, increased analytics maturity, and actionable insights across the business.
The role leads the Power BI development team and works closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into meaningful, high‑quality reporting and insight. The MI Reporting Manager will also collaborate with the Snowflake data engineering team to ensure reporting solutions are built on trusted, well‑structured data foundations.
A key responsibility is to establish and lead a Reporting Centre for Enablement, partnering with SME analytics leads across the business to embed best practice, ensure consistency, and build a federated reporting community that supports Chaucer’s move towards a more data‑driven culture.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute Chaucer’s enterprise reporting strategy aligned with the Data & Analytics vision.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Power BI reporting team, fostering continuous improvement and excellence.
- Contribute to the wider data transformation programme through thought leadership and execution support.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into impactful reporting solutions.
- Ensure all reporting products are built on robust, well‑structured data models developed in collaboration with the Snowflake data engineering team.
- Drive adoption of enterprise‑grade reporting assets, ensuring reusability and scalability.
- Define and enforce reporting development standards, including performance optimisation, version control and documentation.
- Oversee quality assurance across all MI outputs, ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with Chaucer’s data definitions.
- Establish, operationalise and lead a business‑wide Reporting Centre for Enablement.
- Provide governance, standards, templates, ways of working and best‑practice patterns for Power BI development.
- Coach SME analytics leads embedded in business functions to uplift reporting skills and foster self‑service capabilities.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, enabling data‑driven decision‑making.
- Work collaboratively with the data platform team and IT to ensure the reporting ecosystem is future‑proof and scalable.
- Contribute to steering groups, working groups, and transformation forums as required.
- Relevant experience in BI development, reporting or analytics roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Business, Finance).
- Industry certifications in BI, analytics, Azure, Snowflake, or insurance are advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience working with enterprise‑level reporting ecosystems.
