Job Profile Summary This is a Senior Analyst position within the Exposure Management function, focusing on the Specialty classes of Energy & Marine. The role includes line management of Energy and Marine Analyst(s) and supervision of external outsourced resources. The Senior Analyst provides exposure analysis services to underwriting at a risk and portfolio level, monitors accumulation against risk appetites, and requires in‑depth knowledge of exposure management.

Responsibilities include ensuring data accuracy, managing outsourcing relationships, training staff, developing processes, reporting to committees and regulators, and supervising analysts.

  • Act as subject expert for capturing energy & marine exposures and analysing risk within modelling and aggregation systems.
  • Review underwriting submissions, liaise with brokers and underwriters to obtain required information, and interpret risk.
  • Produce management information and analytical reports to enable underwriters to monitor exposures and manage portfolio risk appetite.
  • Support specialty lead and portfolio manager with risk appetite monitoring, annual reviews, and alternative appetite methods.
  • Answer queries and peer‑review data entry from outsourced teams.
  • Enter data into aggregation and modelling systems, driving continuous performance improvements.
  • Document processes and keep governance documents up to date.
  • Collaborate with other specialty analysts to ensure consistency across classes.
  • Work closely with underwriters to understand priorities and manage expectations.
  • Explain the "Chaucer View of Risk" to stakeholders.
  • Supervise day‑to‑day activities of analysts, providing training and development.
  • Participate in joint Exposure Management Team activities and relevant business projects.
  • Manage relationships with outsourcing partners and provide training.
  • Support production of modelling and data for outward reinsurance requirements.
  • Assist with production of Exposure Management returns for Lloyd’s and other regulators.

Qualifications & Experience Knowledge of Exposure Management. Thorough understanding of (re)insurance concepts, slip terms and conditions. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of other Office products. Experience with deterministic scenario reporting. Experience using Sequel Impact and Moody’s RiskLink. SQL knowledge is advantageous. Knowledge of mapping solutions such as ArcGIS or EigenPrism is desirable.
