SUMMARY OF ROLE Establish and maintain strong working relationships with senior underwriting staff, including CUO, Head of Insurance, Head of Reinsurance and Head of Partnerships, in order to ensure an effective three-way engagement between trading partners, underwriters and the distribution team Own Chaucer’s key broker relationships and management of partnership agreements Lead and manage the Distribution team Support Global Head of Distribution in the development, communication, and execution of the distribution strategy, consistent with overall Chaucer Group strategy Target and support business development initiatives across the Group Promote and apply greater use of data to manage broker performance and acquisition costs, including continual development of associated technical capabilities Lead the continued development of our customer-centric strategy and CRM capabilities Support Chaucer’s MGA proposition, to attract and maintain the best partners MAIN DUTIES Broker Relationship Management Own, manage and coordinate a number of Chaucer’s key broker relationships globally Support Global Head of Distribution to agree strategic plans with partner brokers, execute and monitor performance against these plans Build solid relationships externally with our key trading partners and interact at all levels Work alongside strategy team to achieve greater strategic alignment with partner brokers and all trading partners Provide support towards the effective management of strategic agreements with partner brokers, ensuring opportunities are prioritised and maximised ‘Eyes and ears’ on the market - source market intelligence regarding distribution partners and competitors and share with internal stakeholders, including with regard to commercial priorities and digital ambitions Oversee and coordinate activities of Distribution team Underwriter Engagement Build and maintain strong working relationships with underwriters and senior staff Responsible for maintaining strong communication with underwriters and ensuring actions are completed in service of pro-active management of brokers Strategic Implementation and Business Development Engage with strategy team to contribute to the evolution of our Distribution Strategy and be an advocate of the strategy internally with the underwriting community Identify, source and triage new business opportunities in conjunction with underwriting teams, consistent with Chaucer strategy and underwriting plans Monitor and manage acquisition costs, seeking to reduce where possible Engage with underwriting teams to determine appropriate management of cross-class opportunities Support Chaucer’s digital ambitions through helping identify and harness appropriate distribution partners and maintaining alignment with broker goals and priorities regarding digital Coordinate regional production plans with heads of our international offices, ensuring a co-ordinated approach across the Syndicate Engage with the Innovation and Partnership teams to ensure effective sharing of knowledge and coordination of activities Work with the Marketing team to ensure consistent and effective messaging and prioritisation, in service of strengthening our proposition to core and partner brokers Consider and explore potential new distribution channels and partners for future growth opportunities Data and Analysis Enhance our ability to create and demonstrate value from our strategic arrangements and facilities Interpret broker data to identify areas of focus or new opportunities for Chaucer Encourage and support the use of the broker analytics with our underwriters Encourage and drive behaviour across the group to capture more consistent data that can be used as key performance indicators with our brokers Support with communication of broker performance both internally and externally with our brokers Client Relationship Management Support the reinsurance and insurance underwriting teams as we build out our core client management strategy Help develop stronger customer orientation and relationships in conjunction with insurance underwriting teams Be an advocate of CRM tools and encourage cultural change within underwriters to proactively target business Delegated Underwriting Support Chaucer’s MGA proposition, helping to maintain a cohesive approach to delegated underwriting across the business Support with the management and marketing of Chaucer’s MGA portfolio, engaging with other stakeholders as required Identification of MGA opportunities to help achieve our strategic goals Regulatory Obligations Ensure all regulatory and compliance obligations relating to Distribution are met Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and addressed Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers Other Effective management of the team, including personal and technical skills development Provide support to projects and workstreams where required Attend relevant internal meetings to represent Distribution team Represent Chaucer externally as required OUR REQUIREMENTS Relevant Experience Essential Experience in relationship management Applicable commercial experience Experience of the London Insurance market, including Lloyd’s Management of teams Technical Skills Preferred Experience of underwriting processes approachable and able to liaise with staff at all levels Clear thinker with good attention to detail Good analytical and presentation skills Flexibility and adaptability Positive energy and strong work ethic Self-motivated, tenacious, and determined ABOUT US Chaucer is a leading insurance group at Lloyd’s, the world’s specialist insurance market.
