Working within the Finance department of Chaucer, the role will be responsible for the preparation, review and coordination of Chaucer Group internal and external reporting, associated management information and other project work. The candidate will also prepare analytical tools and reports to support the information produced and will play a key role in ensuring reporting is delivered accurately, efficiently and in accordance with Group reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to operate autonomously, exercise sound professional judgement and build effective relationships across Finance and the wider business to support the delivery of Chaucer's reporting obligations.

Main Duties:

  • Responsible for the production, review and coordination of Chaucer Group reporting to the parent company and other key stakeholders, ensuring reporting is delivered accurately, on time and in accordance with Group policies and reporting requirements.
  • Monthly and quarterly consolidated management reporting, including related party transaction reporting, IFRS conversion process, conducting Balance Sheet and Income Statement analysis reviews.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of regulatory and external stakeholder reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
  • Own the planning, coordination and delivery of Group reporting cycles.
  • Support the implementation of Group Accounting Policies and provide technical input on accounting and reporting matters.
  • Production of legal entity management accounts to support Group financing and LOC covenants.
  • Support the Group and legal entity audit process.
  • Actively identify and deliver opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, governance and automation.

Our Requirements:

Relevant Experience:

  • Essential: Experience working in a Big 4 or Top 10 audit and advisory firm.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing or auditing consolidated accounts for a large group of companies.
  • Desirable: Experience with Lloyd's of London syndicate accounting and reporting.

Technical Skills:

  • Essential: Working knowledge of accounting consolidations, strong understanding of IFRS, UK GAAP and the Companies Act.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the use of AI.
  • Desirable: Exposure to insurance accounting standards.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Essential: ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Typically 5+ years post-qualified experience.

Personal Skills:

  • Able to deliver results under tight deadlines, showing flexibility when required.
  • Emphasis on the quality and accuracy of outputs produced.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
