To manage, underwrite and grow the Political Violence and Crisis Management delegated authority (DA) book. To take responsibility for all DA business within the Political Violence and Crisis Management from a business planning, production and oversight perspective.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Political Violence (PV) in writing a profitable PV and CM Delegated Authority book, including binders, lineslips, broker facilities, Fac Reporters and Treaties.
- Take responsibility for all DA business in the division.
- Review of new and renewal relationships, including but not limited to, slip analyses, rating/benchmark analysis and premium monitoring.
- Take responsibility for the monitoring and oversight of Delegated Authority business, including referring binders to DA Operations and completing Referral templates.
- Support the production of a business plan for review and agreement by management.
- Input into the monthly and quarterly forecasting process.
- Underwrite in accordance with underwriting authority and the business plan.
- Seek out new DA business opportunities through liaison with brokers and clients, on-boarding in line with Chaucer's DA Framework.
- Travel to support growth and robust oversight of the divisions DA book, including recording meetings in meeting capture app.
- Build tools to aid the monitoring of all DA business from a controls, oversight, governance and underwriting perspective.
- Work with the DA CoE to implement mid-year DA reviews.
- Be proactive in the management (underwriting and oversight) of all DA business written by the division.
- Look to cross-sell other products with PV/CM coverholders as well as building out our PV offering via Property, Casualty, Marine and Cyber coverholders.
- Carry out underwriting file reviews on each DA relationship and work with the DA Oversight team following the external audit of coverholders.
- Liaise with brokers, coverholders and reinsurers and develop good working relationships.
- Liaise with other business areas within Chaucer as required, including credit control, claims, internal risk review, actuarial etc.
- Use market, industry and other sources to enhance awareness of technical factors and developments relevant to portfolio underwriting and PV in general.
- Responsibility for the accuracy and upkeep of all DA KPIs, working closely with the UW Operations team.
- Prepare reports and statistical information as required by senior management.
- Adhoc DA projects to support the DA CoE.
- Assist in the continuous assessment of rating and benchmarking models for DA business.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years working within the Lloyds insurance environment.
- Relevant experience in PV Insurance, knowledge of the London and Lloyd's markets and experience managing a DA book of business.
- Technical skills: MS Office - including Excel, PowerPoint & Word. Relevant insurance platform experience - PPL & Whitespace. A detailed understanding of fundamental insurance/reinsurance concepts, MRC slip standards, contract certainty requirements, market standard model clauses (NMA, LMA, LSW model endorsements & exclusions), and class-specific terms and conditions.
- Education & Experience: ACII qualified or working towards achieving.
- Personal skills: Professional outlook, flexible at all times, very good interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels, work as part of a team, adapt to a pressured environment, self-motivated.
