Are you an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) ready to take the next step in your veterinary nursing career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join two well-established small animal practices in West London. Importantly, previous leadership experience isn't essential. This role could be ideal for a confident RVN who is ready to take on greater responsibility, develop their leadership skills and make a real difference within a supportive clinical environment.
The Role
Working across two established practices, you'll work closely with experienced clinical teams to help maintain high standards of patient care while supporting the ongoing development of the nursing teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who wants greater autonomy, responsibility and career progression without necessarily having previous experience in a formal leadership position. You'll be supported by experienced veterinary professionals and have access to a wider network of clinical expertise and development opportunities.
Working Pattern
- 40 hours per week
- Shared weekend rota at a nearby 24-hour veterinary hospital
- Approximately 1:4-1:6 weekend commitment

About You
We're looking for an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse who:
- Has solid experience working as an RVN
- Is passionate about exceptional patient and client care
- Is confident and proactive within a clinical environment
- Enjoys supporting and developing colleagues
- Has an interest in leadership and taking on greater responsibility
- Communicates effectively and works well within a team
- Is keen to progress their veterinary nursing career
Previous Head RVN or formal leadership experience is not essential - we're happy to consider experienced RVNs who are ready to take the next step.
Key Responsibilities
As Head RVN, you'll be responsible for:
- Delivering exceptional nursing care to patients
- Leading nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 procedures
- Supporting Veterinary Surgeons with consultations, surgeries and procedures
- Monitoring patients and managing admissions and discharges
- Maintaining high standards of clinical and patient care
- Providing clinical leadership and support to the nursing team
- Helping colleagues develop their skills and confidence
- Supporting the continued improvement of nursing standards
- Ensuring regulatory, practice and operational standards are maintained
- Providing exceptional client care and communication
Salary & Benefits
You'll receive a salary of £40,000 per annum, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
