GVC are delighted to be assisting a highly respected veterinary charity with the recruitment of a Veterinary Surgeon to join their collaborative hospital team in Portsmouth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Vet looking for a varied caseload, excellent surgical exposure and a clear pathway for professional development, while making a genuine difference to pets and owners who need support.

The Role

You’ll enjoy a great mix of consultations and surgery, working with a diverse caseload and gaining hands‑on experience across routine, complex and emergency cases.

Surgical exposure can include

  • Soft tissue surgery, including pyometras, cystotomies, enterotomies, enucleations and caesarean sections
  • Orthopaedic procedures including cruciate repairs, FHNEs, hip reductions and fracture management
  • Dentistry, including routine and major surgical extractions
  • Emergency and complex surgical case management
  • Opportunities to develop advanced skills in soft tissue, orthopaedic, ophthalmic and reconstructive surgery

About You

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys a varied role and is committed to delivering excellent patient and client care.

You’ll ideally have

  • MRCVS registration
  • At least 12 months’ UK small animal experience
  • A confident and pragmatic approach to clinical decision-making
  • A genuine interest in developing your surgical skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a busy, collaborative team
