Veterinary Surgeon(GP Vet) – County Durham

GVC are delighted to be assisting a practice with one of the best leadership teams we’ve had the pleasure of working witha genuinely supportive, approachable and people-focused team who care just as much about their colleagues as they do their patients.
Due to one of their vets retiring and another heading off on maternity leave, they’re now looking for an experienced Small Animal GP Vet to join the team from January/February 2027.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident GP vet who enjoys first-opinion work and wants to be part of a team where personality really does matter more than a list of qualifications.
You’ll ideally be someone who:
- Is confident working independently and can manage occasional sole-charge shifts
- Is competent with first-opinion consultations and routine surgery
- Enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets
- Works well as part of a team and brings a positive attitude
- Is keen to continue developing their clinical skills
- Has a certificate or particular clinical interest — a bonus, but absolutely not essential!
There is no expectation to work nights, with a dedicated night team already in place.

- OOH: No nights – dedicated night team
