Overview

Veterinary Surgeon Wanted in East London

£45,000 to £72,000 FTE | New Ultrasound | 24hr Hospital Referral Backup

What they are

This is one of the busiest branch practices in a well-established East London veterinary group, serving a vibrant, diverse and culturally rich community. The practice works closely with a nearby consult and minor ops clinic to form a lively mini hub, and is backed by a 24-hour hospital only a short distance away, meaning more advanced or emergency cases can be referred swiftly with minimal disruption for clients. The practice has recently invested in new ultrasound facilities, with further investment planned, and the team is genuinely encouraged to share their wishlist for future equipment. Two consulting rooms, a large prep and theatre area, separate cat and dog wards and a well-utilised lab area. The team of two vets, a senior RVN, additional RVNs, student nurses and trainee nurses thrive on their unique dynamic — known for their laughter and for pulling together on the tougher days. You will also be fully supported by a dedicated regional manager and an experienced regional head vet for clinical advice and guidance.

What you will do

You will be working across a busy and varied caseload of consultations, GP surgery and emergency triage, with the 24-hour hospital available for referral of more advanced cases at short notice. You will be evidence-based and thorough in your clinical decision-making, maintain accurate and detailed clinical records and contribute actively to a respectful and collaborative team environment. 36 hours per week. One in four Saturdays at branch level. One in eight Sunday shifts at the 24-hour hospital. Up to two bank holidays per year at the hospital. Last resort on-call rotation included.

What you will gain

  • £45,000 to £72,000 FTE depending on experience with room for professional growth.
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays.
  • Private medical insurance with Bupa.
  • Up to £2,000 CPD allowance per year with up to five paid CPD days.
  • Generous relocation assistance where applicable.
  • Paid 30-minute lunch breaks.
  • Colleague introduction reward.
  • 24-hour employee assistance programme.
  • Medical cashback plan covering dental, physio, optician, chiropractic and more.
  • Professional membership fees covered.
  • Shopping and colleague discounts.
  • Petplan staff discount.

What they need from you

A vet comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a broad GP skill set, confidence in consultations and surgery, and a genuine team spirit. Someone who is evidence-based, thorough in their clinical notes and happy to refer cases promptly to the 24-hour hospital when needed.
