RVN / Senior RVN – Essex
£30,000–£34,000 DOE + FREE Accommodation | Seaside Location | Independent Practice
GVC are assisting a genuinely independent, family-run veterinary clinic in Essex with the recruitment of an RVN or Senior RVN to join their fantastic nursing team.
If you’re looking for a practice where independence really matters, your nursing skills are valued, the team genuinely supports one another and your work-life balance comes first, this could be a brilliant next move.
And there’s a pretty special added benefit… FREE accommodation close to the practice.
Why this role?
This is a practice that has already made a huge impression.
Run by a passionate veterinary family, the clinic has built an incredibly loyal client base and has even been recognised as Best Vet UK in its opening year.
The secret? A genuinely personal approach to veterinary care, a fantastic team and lovely clients who appreciate the service they receive.
The practice is so well regarded that they currently operate a waiting list for new clients.
You’ll be joining a team where being independent isn’t just a marketing phrase,it’s at the heart of how the practice is run, with a long‑term commitment to remaining that way.
The Nursing Role
You’ll join a well‑established nursing team, with 4–5 nurses working each weekday, allowing everyone to have a defined role while still supporting each other throughout the day.
Nursing roles include:
- Operations
- Consults
- Recoveries
- Float 1
- Float 2
You’ll see a varied caseload and have the opportunity to use your full range of RVN skills in a supportive, well‑equipped environment.
The practice does not carry out orthopaedics, with these cases referred to a nearby independent specialist centre.
The rota
This role offers an excellent work-life balance:
- 4 weekday shifts per week
- 8:30am–7:00pm
- One fixed weekday off
- Saturday mornings approximately 1:6
- Saturday hours: 9:00am–1:00pm
OOH is covered by Vets Now, meaning you won’t be tied into a regular out‑of‑hours rota.
Very occasionally, the practice has an inpatient requiring an overnight check, with nurses covering a 9pm check. This is genuinely rare — there have only been two such cases throughout 2026 so far.
FREE Accommodation
One of the standout benefits of this opportunity is free accommodation.
A lovely three‑bedroom bungalow close to the practice is currently going through the purchase process and, once available, could be provided to the successful candidate.
The accommodation may occasionally be shared, for example when locums are staying, but this is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to relocate to the Essex coast without the usual cost of accommodation.
If you were to start before the bungalow is ready, there is also a beautiful two‑bedroom seaside flat available as temporary accommodation.
What’s on offer?
- £30,000–£34,000 salary, depending on experience and skillset
