Veterinary Surgeon – Independent, Flexible & Forward-Thinking – Midlands – £40,000–£60,000 DOE

A refreshingly human opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 12 months of experience who is looking for their next step — in a practice that listens, supports and genuinely invests in its people.

About the Practice

This independent small animal practice operates across two well-equipped sites in the Midlands, offering both first‑opinion and referral services across multiple disciplines. As an independently owned practice, the management team works within the business day‑to‑day, meaning support, ideas and conversations about progression are always genuinely accessible.

The clinical team consists of five vets led by an experienced Head Vet, supported by 9 RVNs and a dedicated support team. The team includes two certificate holders and Advanced Practitioners spanning small animal surgery, dentistry and ophthalmology — providing excellent exposure to complex and interesting cases.

Facilities are excellent across both sites, including digital X‑ray, ultrasonography, in‑house laboratory, dental equipment and endoscopes. The practice sees a broad variety of pets including some exotics, and undertakes a wide range of surgeries including orthopaedics and laparoscopic procedures.

About the Role

This is a flexible, permanent position available full or part‑time — and they genuinely mean it when they say flexible. Hours, rota and package can all be discussed to find the right arrangement for the right person. There is no OOH, and the weekend rota is 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Monthly 1‑to‑1s with your team leader ensure your development and progression are always front and centre. Whether you want to stay as a GP or develop a specific clinical interest — this practice will help you get there.

Why the Midlands?

The Midlands offers a brilliant quality of life at an affordable cost. Both sites are well connected via major Midlands motorway links, providing easy access to Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby. The surrounding area has plenty to offer — from the stunning Peak District to the north, to thriving market towns and excellent local amenities nearby. It's a part of the country that genuinely surprises people with how much it has to offer.

What We're Looking For

Someone with at least 12 months of post‑graduate experience — but more importantly, someone with the right attitude and enthusiasm to be part of a close‑knit, ambitious team. The right person matters far more than the finished article.

  • Salary £40,000–£60,000 DOE

  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays
