We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our Land Development and New Homes Team at our Newark office. We are seeking an individual who holds secretarial qualifications, a degree in Law, or has equivalent relevant professional experience. Full training will be provided, but a genuine interest in the legal profession is essential.
This role includes direct client contact, and the Legal Assistant will be expected to handle initial client enquiries confidently and professionally. They will therefore need to ensure they remain up-to-date with the matters within their area(s) of responsibility.

Department: Land Development and New Homes Team
Hours: 9am – 5.15pm Monday to Friday
Salary: National Minimum/Living Wage
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform typing/word-processing accurately and to deadline.
- The New Build Legal Assistant will be expected to undertake work across all areas of the Land Development and New Homes Department including:
- Being responsible for creating and sending contracts (once trained)
- Responding to all requests for information in a timely manner
- Reporting statistics etc to the Head of the Department
- Maintaining accurate records associated with contracts including fee and/or income related data
Candidate Profile:
- Secretarial qualification, Law Degree or equivalent work‑based experience.
- High level of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience of working in a law firm.
- Clear understanding of confidentiality/Data Protection.
- Typing speed of at least 50 WPM.
- Strategic thinker with hands‑on delivery capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to quickly establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making capability.
- Able to work with diplomacy and assertiveness.
- Discrete with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Flexible and willing/able to travel to all offices.
- Proactive and positive attitude.
- Reacts well under pressure and is able to work to deadlines.
- High level of integrity and empathy.
