We’re now looking for a talented Pre Sales Engineer to join the team!
What You’ll Be Doing
- The Pre-Sales Engineer role is primarily focused on the technical delivery of Proofs of Value (PoVs). Success is measured by the ability to execute reliable, credible PoVs using real customer data, producing outputs that can be confidently used in live sales cycles to support deal progression and conversion.
- The role initially involves limited direct customer exposure. Over time, progression comes through demonstrated technical judgement, curiosity, and a growing understanding of how high-quality technical execution drives commercial outcomes.
- Own and deliver the technical execution of Proofs of Value (PoVs) to support the Chattermill sales cycle, from initial setup through to delivery.
- Prepare, ingest, and transform customer data for PoVs, including data acquisition, ETL processes, data modelling, and validation.
- Build and maintain PoV outputs such as dashboards, analyses, and reports, aligned to agreed scope, success criteria, and customer use cases.
- Validate data quality, coverage, and assumptions to ensure PoV outputs are reliable, defensible, and fit for use in a commercial sales context.
- Clearly document PoV setup, data limitations, and technical decisions to support internal handover, reuse, and consistency.
- Collaborate closely with DataOps, MLOps, Sales, and Product teams to deliver PoVs efficiently and to an agreed quality standard.
- Maintain demo and PoV environments in line with product releases, platform capabilities, and best practices.
- As you grow in the Pre-Sales Engineer role, you will gradually contribute to customer facing activities such as technical Q&A, PoV presentations, and solution scoping, supported by training and coaching.
- Develop proactive technical judgement, anticipating data quality or coverage issues that could impact prospect confidence.
- Connect technical decisions to customer use cases and intended outcomes.
- Show curiosity beyond execution, understanding why data matters and how insights will be interpreted.
- Contribute to shaping PoV scope around high-value use cases in partnership with Sales and Solutions Consultants.
What You’ll Need
- Experience translating business requirements and use cases into practical technical or analytical solutions.
- Coding ability in Python, with familiarity using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude).
- Proven experience building and running ETL workflows across varied data sources (CSV, JSON, APIs), with a solid grasp of data quality, validation, and error handling.
- Experience supporting trials, pilots, or Proofs of Concept, ideally in a commercial or pre-sales context.
- Comfortable working with imperfect or incomplete data, and clearly communicating assumptions, limitations, and trade offs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to diagnose customer challenges and deliver clear technical solutions.
- Curiosity about how technical architecture, data flows, and AI-driven insights connect to buying decisions and measurable customer value.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
It Would Be a Bonus If You
- Experience working with cloud-based SaaS products; exposure to modern AI tools and platforms.
- Exposure to B2C industries such as e-commerce, subscription services, or consumer platforms.
