We are seeking a motivated and experienced Specialist Band 6 Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a flexible and enthusiastic therapist who is passionate about supporting children and young people across a range of communication needs. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload independently while also supporting and supervising junior therapists within the team. This role requires someone who is adaptable, proactive, and willing to embrace new experiences and responsibilities as our service continues to develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritise an independent paediatric caseload
- Carry out specialist assessments, therapy planning, intervention, and reviews in the clinic, schools and homes
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapy across a range of speech, language, and communication needs
- Provide supervision and support to junior therapists
- Provide leadership and clinical support to junior therapists during periods of school holidays
- Contribute to multidisciplinary working and collaborative goal setting
- Write detailed clinical reports and recommendations
- Contribute to and support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Build positive relationships with families, schools, and professionals
- Travel within the company service radius as required
Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration and membership of RCSLT
- Minimum of 2 years experience working directly with children
- Significant experience working within paediatric speech and language therapy
- Experience across a range of speech, language, and communication difficulties
- Strong skills in both assessment and therapy delivery
- Knowledge and practical experience of EHCP processes and documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior therapists
- Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Specialist interests or advanced experience in particular clinical areas (e.g. ASD, DLD, speech sound disorders, AAC, stammering, complex needs, SEMH, Selective Mutism etc.)
- Experience working within schools, clinics, and community settings
- Training or experience in delivering parent and staff training
