We are looking for a Merchandiser to join our retail and buying team based at Chatsworth (part of the Devonshire Group), playing a central role in how our product ranges come to life across our four shops, events, Farmshop and online offer. Working closely with Buyers and supported by an Assistant Merchandiser, you will help ensure that every product lands in the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity, maximising sales, margin and availability.

Through our values of always improving, decency and being inclusive, your day-to-day will see you immersed in trading performance, using your analytical mindset to spot patterns, identify opportunities and respond to how our customers are shopping. Whether you are tracking best sellers, adjusting stock levels to maintain availability, or taking action on slower-moving lines to protect margin, your decisions will directly impact performance. You will be confident navigating data, drawing meaningful conclusions and translating these into clear, actionable insight for the wider team.

You will partner closely with Buyers to shape ranges and support trading decisions, while working alongside Visual Merchandising, Warehouse and Retail Operations teams to ensure stock flows smoothly from supplier through to shop floor. From raising and managing purchase orders to planning stock allocations and supporting seasonal launches, you will play a key part in keeping everything aligned and moving forward.

Along the way, your ability to stay organised and balance multiple priorities will help you keep momentum across a busy and varied product landscape.

We are looking for someone who brings strong commercial awareness and a natural curiosity about what drives retail performance. You will be comfortable working with data and systems, confident using tools like Excel to analyse and interpret information, and able to communicate your findings in a way that influences and engages others. Experience working across multiple product categories or sites, or within an e-commerce environment, would be a welcome addition, but most importantly you will bring a proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will also have the opportunity to guide and support the Assistant Merchandiser, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their role as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team.

This is a fixed-term role covering a period of maternity leave of up to 12 months. Hours of work will be up to 40 per week, usually between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexible working arrangements will be considered. As there will be an element of travelling between sites you ideally will possess a full driving license and access to your own vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed. The role will be based at Chatsworth, and we can offer hybrid working if this suits your circumstances with a minimum of 3 days office based and 2 days from home.

We genuinely care about our employees and offer several company benefits including a wellbeing calendar of events, an onsite gym and swimming pool, and access to an Estate Pass for free access to Chatsworth for you and guests plus discounts at various hotels and restaurants across the Devonshire Group. We also welcome applicants from the LGBTQ+ community.
