Job Description:

This job entails engaging in an educational garden that serves as a laboratory for core classes in the Falk School programs (Food Studies, Sustainability, Environmental Science) and also an experimental station to help learners throughout their lifespan engage in the science, practice, and social movement of agroecology.

Required Responsibilities:

Each week and shift will be different depending on the agroecology demonstration garden\'s seasonal needs and curricular components. In addition to supporting the Farm Team during scheduled shifts, agroecology Demonstration Garden employees will take on independent projects such as farm to table events, education and outreach opportunities, and independent production projects.

Essential skills and requirements:

Prior experience in vegetable production, crop management, or food preparation is preferred but not required. Also, it is preferred the applicants for this position are enrolled in FST 520, or FST 320 or have taken this course in the past. Skills that will be important for success within this position:

  • Ability and interest in working collaboratively
  • Active listening and learning from feedback
  • Excitement about hands-on work
  • Utilizing Teams to gather data and communicate with team

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.

Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
