We are working on behalf of an established UPVC window and door manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Site Engineer. This is a varied, hands‑on role responsible for maintaining and repairing specialist UPVC fabrication machinery as well as supporting general site and facilities maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment uptime and smooth day‑to‑day production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machinery Maintenance
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on UPVC fabrication machinery
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults
    • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
    • Install, commission, and relocate machinery when required
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service schedules
    • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors where necessary
  • Site Maintenance
    • Carry out general building and facilities maintenance tasks
    • Maintain site services including lighting, heating, compressed air systems, and utilities
    • Undertake minor repairs to buildings, fixtures, and equipment
    • Support health & safety inspections and ensure compliance with procedures
    • Maintain workshop tools and maintenance equipment
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability and efficiency
    • Support machinery upgrades and improvement projects
    • Assist in managing spare parts stock levels and recommendations

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential
    • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing or production
    • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair skills
    • Basic electrical fault‑finding ability
    • Experience working with industrial machinery
    • Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
    • Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Desirable
    • Experience with UPVC fabrication machinery (e.g., welding, routing, cutting, CNC, corner cleaning)
    • Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, 18th Edition or equivalent)
    • Knowledge of PLC‑controlled systems
    • Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent)
