We are recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing company for an experienced Despatch & Transport Team Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's fleet of delivery vans, planning daily routes and working closely with drivers to ensure deliveries are completed efficiently and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily fleet of delivery vans and allocate routes to drivers.
- Plan and plot efficient delivery routes and schedules.
- Work closely with drivers throughout the day, dealing with any issues or changes.
- Liaise with customers regarding deliveries and provide excellent customer service.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing and despatch teams to ensure orders are ready on time.
- Monitor deliveries and resolve any delays or operational issues.
- Maintain accurate transport, vehicle and delivery records.
- Ensure drivers follow company procedures and health & safety requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a transport, despatch, logistics or fleet management role and be confident managing drivers and daily delivery operations. You will have:
- Proven experience in a similar transport/despatch role.
- Strong route planning and fleet management experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience working closely with drivers and managing daily schedules.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good geographical knowledge and IT skills.
