We are recruiting for a Commercial Specification Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer of PVC-U windows and doors and curtain walling used in Commercial projects throughout the UK. The role of Commercial Specification Engineer is to support the specification managers and customers with a design service to ensure the correct products are being used and they comply where applicable with the building regulations.

Duties

  • Adherence to all organisational policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
  • Work positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.
  • Represent the organisation in a positive way as to avoid the damage of corporate image or bringing the company into disrepute.
  • To prepare technical drawings and sketches in respect of the range of window systems products.
  • To produce manufacturing cutting sheets and drawings.
  • To conduct site surveys.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries relating to: energy ratings, window construction, procedures, costs, Building Regulations, British Standards, hardware, window performance, installation, structural elements and to facilitate the production of in-house design calculations.
  • Deliver external and internal technical seminars to a range of customers and stakeholders to demonstrate window systems. Subjects to include: window design, Building Regulations, survey, installation and window energy ratings.
  • Attend and support Technical Sales meetings with customers and stakeholders as necessary.

Key Experiences and Skills Required

  • At least two years’ experience in working with fabrication and installation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, Excel and AutoCAD software.
  • Detailed knowledge of window systems.
  • Site management experience including ability to conduct site surveys.
  • Full driving license.
