Chase Taylor Recruitment is currently working on behalf of a globally recognised manufacturer of high-end glass processing machinery, who are looking to appoint an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, multi-skilled engineer to work with sophisticated machinery used throughout the glass processing and fenestration industries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist machinery at customer sites across the UK, Ireland and occasionally overseas.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical support to customers, ensuring machinery is installed, maintained and operating efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, commissioning and servicing specialist glass processing machinery at customer sites.
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.
- Fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
- Diagnosing faults on complex PLC and servo-controlled systems.
- Providing professional technical support and ensuring excellent customer service.
- Delivering technical assistance and training to customers and colleagues where required.
- Working closely with international engineering and technical teams to ensure an effective and consistent service.
- Completing service reports and technical documentation accurately and within required timescales.
- Maintaining company equipment, tools and vehicle to a high standard.
- Representing the business professionally when working at customer sites.
About You
We are looking for an engineer with a strong multi-skilled engineering background who is comfortable working independently at customer sites. Ideally, you will have:
- HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with PLC and servo-controlled machinery.
- The ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider engineering team.
- A willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, including regular overnight stays and occasional international travel.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
Experience within glass processing, fenestration, manufacturing machinery or automated production equipment would be highly advantageous. Knowledge of Italian would also be beneficial but is not essential.
